8 Month Update

Mila is finally on the curve for an 8 month old.  We have reached the 10th percentile.  She now weighs 15 pounds 10 ounces up from almost 14 pounds last month.

This month Mila has developed a love of reading books.  I also taught her to turn pages.  She either turns the page or tries to eat the page.  All of her specialists are always amazed at how she is so interested in all the pictures and doesn’t want you to stop reading.

Mila’s favorite song is “If You’re Happy & You Know It.”  No matter how sad she is if you start singing this song she will automatically cheer up.  She loves all kinds of music.  I like playing her Bob Dylan so I am sure by the time she is older she will be pretty sick of him.

Mila still hates tummy time, but loves to try and sit up by herself.  She also has started giggling and it melts her Mama’s heart.

Mila loves going to the park and story time.  She loves to watch all the kids and see what they are doing.  She is a very observant baby.  I like to say she likes to be up in everybody’s business.  I finally let her go on the swings all by herself.  It took her awhile to get warmed up to it, but then she loved swinging.

One of her favorite trips this month was to The Gentle Barn They were having their 13th anniversary, so we went out to celebrate. The Gentle Barn is an amazing Non-Profit that helps animals and children.

Mila first got to meet the cows.  She wasn’t too sure about them at first, but warmed up quickly to the idea of seeing cows in real life instead of just a book.

Then Mila waited patiently for our turn to see the other animals.

Her favorite were the sheep.

She wasn’t sure what to do with this guy…

But she sure knew she didn’t want to be around the 1,000 pound pig.  She went to touch him but got scared and started crying.  I can understand why.  I didn’t even dare touch him and got Mila out of there as fast as possible hoping that pig would not wake up.

Mila is officially a beach bum. This month she went to the beach 3 days in a row.  First she took her cousins Ala and Amani twice

and then she went down to Newport Beach to meet her Uncle Daniel.  He did great with Mila, but I think he needs some practice.  Daniel could you babysit next week?

We can’t forget all the great places Mila went to eat or pretended to eat.

Mila is a great joy to have around.  Everyone thinks she is a great baby and that we are super lucky.  I have to agree.

Miss Mila Sings

Every night that I put Mila to sleep I like to sing her songs. For one I like to sing, but really not in front of anyone and two it calms her and she will go to sleep super quick. But before she goes to sleep she likes to sing with me. And as you can see from this super short video she is much louder than her Mama. I wonder if our neighbors appreciate her vocals?

On another note Miss Mila has started to giggle.  I haven’t been able to get it on video yet, but it is super adorable.  She loves to be tickled especially on her belly.

Happy 8 Month Birthday

Since Mr. C is in Boston my friend, Michi, and I took Mila to Sprinkles Ice Cream (we resisted the urge for cupcakes too). While there the coolest thing happened. I went to light the candle, so Michi and I could sign happy birthday to her and right after I did everyone in the store started singing to her. Mila was so excited. She couldn’t stop smiling. It made my day also. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera or phone out to take a video or photo. Michi took this one with her iPad, so it isn’t the best photo but I think it captures the moment pretty well.

And some with my camera, while eating my red velvet cupcake ice cream in my red velvet cone.  I’m talented.

Malibu Mila Turns 7 Months

Yes, I am very behind at posting.  But in good news Mr. C is supposed to be helping me design a new site in his already busy schedule, so be on the look out in the next 6 years. (Hopefully this is not as truthful as I imagine it might be.)

I know I have said this before but I can’t believe Mila is 7 months already, well technically I have never said exactly that because she just turned 7 months (8/5/12).  She is now almost 14 pounds, but since we are being technical she is 13 pounds 14 ounces.  I am afraid to put this on the record, but she has decided it is okay to take a nap. (This is no lie when I said 2 minutes after I typed this she woke up). She takes a nap for at least an hour most days.  She loves her papa so much.  Every time he walks in the room she lights up with a huge grin.  Maybe it is because I’m not the only girl he buys flowers for anymore.  Sorry boys, but Miss Mila now expects flowers for all special occasions and even some non-special ones.  It also doesn’t hurt to bring them for her Mama.

We started out the celebration by taking Miss Mila to my favorite store, Zara for a new birthday outfit. They were having a huge sale, so if you haven’t been get your little booty to the nearest one, but be careful because they all don’t have kids clothes. Also, if you don’t find anything you like you can just gaze at the adorable mannequins. The boy gets Miss Mila’s approval, she couldn’t stop gazing into his eyes. She also wanted to eat his face but I stopped her.

On a sad note, I remember the last time I went shopping at Zara for Mila. I ordered a bunch of things online when they were having a big sale. They were the first clothing items I ever purchased for her. I anticipated the package for weeks only for it to ironically arrive 2 days after Mila was born and on the same day of her 3rd Lumbar Puncture. When I saw the box I couldn’t stop crying since I wasn’t sure if Mila would ever be able to wear the perfect little clothes I picked out. I immediately took it and threw it into the depths of my closet in hopes that I would never see it again. It took me at least 3 months to open the package.

On a sunnier note, we decided to take Mila to the Malibu beach to celebrate her birthday. I have lost count of the number of times this little 7 month old has been to the beach, but she is proving to Los Angeles that their are more than just tan blonde beach babes. These are some of my favorite photos of Mila and me (and for good measure one of Mr. C).

Before heading out we decided we should get a parking ticket just so we can reach our goal of getting a parking ticket in every single part of Los Angeles County.

For dessert we decided to bypass the cupcakes this month ( I know, crazy). I have been wanting to try Harajuku Crepe

We didn’t forget the candles or the singing. Miss Mila is already licking her hands.

I suggest the Original Crepe with Strawberries, Nutella, Green Tea Ice Cream and whipped cream. Beware this is a eat in your hands kind of place, so if you are like Mr. C you better bring your own spoon. I personally prefer my hands.

Happy 7 Months, Mila.
